Becoming Catholic

While the Catholic Church is the largest Christian faith in the world, it is also one of the most misunderstood. Through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), those exploring the Catholic faith are invited to discover the beauty, consistency, and depth of our beliefs—rooted in Scripture, tradition, and the lived witness of the Church throughout the centuries.
  • We believe that every human person is lovingly created by God and that all of creation is inherently good. Though we are capable of sin, the Church teaches that each person is made in the image of God and is worthy of dignity, love, and respect.
  • We see God’s goodness reflected throughout creation. The natural world, renewed through the Incarnation of Christ, is viewed sacramentally—revealing God's presence, beauty, and love.
  • We believe in stewardship: that all we have—our time, talents, and treasures—are gifts from God, meant to be shared generously with others in service and love.
  • We believe in the Holy Trinity: one God in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a perfect communion of love. We are created to share in this divine life and relationship.
  • We believe in community. The Church is not just a building or an institution, but a living Body of Christ. As members of this Body, we reflect the unity and love of the Trinity in our relationships and shared faith.
  • We believe that God's love for us is so great that He became one of us—fully human in the person of Jesus Christ—to walk with us, teach us, and ultimately save us through His death and resurrection.
  • We believe in the communion of saints—holy men and women who have gone before us and who continue to inspire and intercede for us on our journey of faith.
  • We believe in the power of the Paschal Mystery—Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection—and we live in hope that we, too, will rise to new life with Him.

To become Catholic through OCIA is to enter into this timeless and ever-living faith. It is a journey into hope, community, and the joy of knowing and following Jesus Christ. Together, we continue the mission He entrusted to us: to share the Good News with the world.

What is OCIA (The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults)?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a communal journey of faith for adults who are seeking to become full members of the Catholic Church. Rooted in the practices of the early Church, this process invites individuals into a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer, formation, and participation in the life of the parish community.
